Description of the building system The eco²building is a prefabricated timber construction system with passive-house quality, developed for commercial and industrial buildings with sizes between 300 to more than 5.000m². It provides highest flexibility in design and use, such as a functional design tailored to clients needs, large spans up to 35m for halls without disturbing columns and various façade designs out of timber, metal or glass. Highest thermal insulation and protection against overheating in summer, constant ventilation with fresh air, a user-tailored services concept if required, together with a set of specially designed solutions for natural lighting will give ideal working conditions and a minimized amount of energy need for artificial lighting where required. | |


The eco²building-system consists of a load bearing column-beam structure, to which wall and roof elements are mounted. All components, details and joints have been calculated/tested and optimised for their durability, thermal insulation, noise protection and necessary fire safety. The components can readily be configured to the requirements of each individual project and will be factory produced to highest material and constructional quality. This means time savings for planning and construction until handover of the building of about one third compared to a conventional one, as well as an energy consumption reduced by more then 90% of a conventional building and low maintenance costs.
The construction of the building system allows that extensions or alterations can easily be realized.
3D-visualisations of the building are available from the beginning of the planning to optimise the design to the needs of the client. The integrated system of the Eco²builiding allows it to give cost appraisals up from the first design steps, resulting in a fixed-price offer to the client.
The eco²building has the ecological benefits of a sustainable timber construction, being from renewable, CO2-neutral material with can easily be recycled. The ecological performance of the whole system is tested and optimised by a live-cycle analysis. | |


Description of the building services – heating/cooling, ventilation, electrics
All components of the different services are designed for the highest levels of comfort and efficiency, respectively.
- Ventilation:
Ventilation in the offices follows a proven design, with sufficient supply air for high comfort without draught or dryness of air. In the halls the same principle applies while precautions for handling of pollutants or hazardous materials are taken conceptually. - Heating / Cooling:
In the standard design geothermal energy with a heat pump satisfies the extremely low heating demand. If cooling is required, ground probes also yield the cooling energy very efficiently. As a side effect, the heat stored in the ground in summer time, can be re-gained in winter. Optionally biomass heating may be installed as an alternative. - Electrical Engineering:
All artificial lighting is highly efficient and designed to cooperate perfectly with daylight use, where the users are free to define their requirements. The roofs are ready for PV panels.
